Joint Meeting of the Trade Advisory Board and the DCFTA Advisory Group

On November 24, 2021, a joint meeting of the Trade Advisory Board (TAG) of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the DCFTA Advisory Group (DAG) was held online, in an expanded format, chaired by Mr. Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and by Mr. Mikheil Chelidze, Chairman of the Board, President of the Georgian Small and Medium Enterprises Association.

On the meeting of the Advisory Board was discussed the ongoing research on the implementation of the Turkey-Georgia-EU Diagonal Cumulation under the USAID Economic Security Program (implemented by the PMCG). The aim of the research is to promote entrepreneurial entities to use the diagonal cumulation scheme by identifying potential beneficiary sectors and products.

On the meeting also was discussed information on the study of laboratory (industrial) capabilities of Georgia, which aims to identify priority areas for the development of local laboratories. The research is carried out within the framework of the Association Facilitation Support Project (AA Facility) between Georgia and the European Union.

During the discussion at the end of the meeting, the representatives of the private sector expressed their views and recommendations and made suggestions for the implementation of the above research.

The Trade Advisory Board and the DCFTA Advisory Group were established in 2016. The purpose of the Council is to develop recommendations on issues related to the country's trade policy and the implementation of the DCFTA, and to propose measures to be taken, which will strengthen the private-public dialogue.
