DCFTA Information Centre Training on Pesticide Use held in Gori

On 27 July 2017, the “Pesticides and Agrochemicals Regulation and Control” training was held in Gori. The event was attended by Ms. Nino Chikovani, President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). She spoke with the participants about the DCFTA Information Centre activities and other GCCI services. The training was organized with the assistance of the EU/GIZ project SME Development and DCFTA in Georgia.

The training was conducted by Ms. Marina Ghveinadze, Head of Plant Protection and Agro-Chemical Remedies Registration and Control Division of the National Food Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, and Mr. David Sarjveladze, Senior Specialist of Plant Protection and the same Division.

The covered topics were related to existing regulations and anticipated legislative changes regarding pesticides; rules for storing, transporting, and utilization of pesticides and agrochemicals; as well as collection and control of pesticide and agrochemical samples.

DCFTA Information Centre has been established under the cooperation framework of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the EU/GIZ project SME Development and DCFTA in Georgia. The project helps small and medium entrepreneurs increase their competitiveness and adapt to the new regulatory environment under the free trade area with the EU. The project is implemented within the framework of the European Union initiative EU4Business, which aims to help small and medium entrepreneurs access the free trade area between Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries and the EU. The initiative promotes the improvement of the business environment, increasing knowledge and skills of entrepreneurs as well as facilitating their access to financing.
