On 22 February 2018, the DCFTA Information Center of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the training “Bio Winemaking” in Kutaisi. The training covered many topics including bio winemaking principles, winemaking practices around the world, alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation, wine processing, wine diseases and disadvantages and wine bottling.
Up to 30 entrepreneurs working in the Imereti region took part in the training, which was conducted by Giorgi Barisashvili, an engineer-technologist in the winemaking field.
The training was organized with the assistance of the EU/GIZ project SME Development and DCFTA in Georgia.
The project increases competitiveness in small and medium entrepreneurs and assists them in adapting to the regulative environment and conditions specified in the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union. The project is being carried out in frames of the “EU4Business” initiative, which aims to assist small and medium entrepreneurs in taking advantage of the DCFTA agreement between Georgia and the European Union. The initiative also contributes in developing the business environment and improving knowledge and access to financing for entrepreneurs.
