On 21 February, 2018, the “Business Management within the Opportunities Afforded by the DCFTA” training was held in Senaki. The training covered the following topics: international trade regimes, markets accessible through free and favorable conditions for entrepreneurs active in Georgia, European and local institutes and initiatives supporting entrepreneurs, opportunities for export to the EU and obstacle factors, successful export examples, and additional sources of information.
Small and medium entrepreneurs from the Samegrelo region’s hazelnut, laurel and beekeeping sectors took part in the training. The training was organized with the assistance of the EU/GIZ project SME Development and DCFTA in Georgia. The event was headed by Jambul Nachkepia, a Social Sciences PhD and the executive director of the Erani resource center.
The project increases competitiveness in small and medium entrepreneurs and assists them in adapting to the regulative environment and conditions specified in the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union. The project is being carried out in frames of the “EU4Business” initiative, which aims to assist small and medium entrepreneurs in taking advantage of the DCFTA agreement between Georgia and the European Union. The initiative also contributes in developing the business environment and improving knowledge and access to financing for entrepreneurs.
