A joint meeting of the DCFTA Advisory Group (DAG) and the Trade Advisory Group (TAG)

On July 19, 2019, with the support from the G4G program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a joint meeting of the DCFTA Advisory Group (DAG) and the Trade Advisory Group (TAG) was held at the “Hotel Museum,” which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Genadi Arveladze.

 

During the meeting, the Deputy Head of Technical and Construction Supervision Agency, Mr. Rati Oboladze presented the draft technical regulation on “Safety of Toys.” Furthermore, members of the advisory group were informed about the regulatory impact assessments (RIAs) of the Low-voltage Directive (LVD) and the electromagnetic compatibility Directive (EMC), which were prepared by the consulting group PMO with the support from the G4G program.

 

“It is extremely important to hold private and public dialogues before regulations enter into force. In terms of the technical regulation on “Safety of Toys,” we already held consultations with the private sector and non-governmental organizations, reviewed their positions, and took into consideration their suggestions. We plan to have similar approach with all types of goods that might fall under market surveillance,” stated Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Genadi Arveladze.

 

After presentations, members of the Advisory Group held discussions.
