“We have implemented many reforms in this field and among them I want to highlight the one, implemented with this EU assistance project. This is an important project for development of metrology and standards systems, as the metrological laboratories will be technically upgraded to introduce modern and internationally recognized services. I’d like to take the opportunity and thank the Delegation of European Union to Georgia for the assistance provided in the last three years and especially for this project,” noted Mr. Arveladze.

According to the Mr. David Tkemaladze, the main purpose of the project was the development of the field of standards and metrology, which was not accessible in Georgia before, and local entrepreneurs and interested persons were forced to purchase expensive services abroad. Thanks to this EU project the sector is being transformed, modern services were developed, metrology laboratories were equipped with new equipment and metrological devices. Electronic systems in line with EU practices were implemented and will be delivered to customers as services.

The Agency and AECOM consortium representatives assessed the results of the CIB (Comprehensive Institutional Building) funded project: renovation of the Agency and its supporting infrastructure, as well as the rehabilitation of the etalon database: geometric measurements, pressure and strength, temperature and humidity measurements, large masses and small volumes, radiofrequency, timing and frequency, optics and acoustic, vibration, consumption of substances and radiation measurement.

The conference attendees were also introduced to the services, provided by the internationally recognized laboratories of the Metrology Institute of the Agency and to the future plans of the Agency to further develop existing services.

At the end of the conference, the delegates discussed the progress of Georgia in the field of standards and metrology.
